Frames also may be delivered directly to an Ethernet port by bridge,
router, or management applications. A transmitted frame can be
discarded for any of the following reasons:

The Ethernet port is disabled.
■
There is no room on the transmit queue.
■
An error occurred during frame transmission.
Figure 11 shows the order in which these discard tests are made.
