b. Connect the USB Network Adpater to your network hub
Connect the USB Network Adapter to the HomeConnect 10 Mbps
Ethernet Hub included in the HomeConnect Ethernet Kit. Alter-
natively, you can also connect the USB Network Adapter to any
10 Mbps Ethernet hub. For more information about the
HomeConnect hub, see "About the HomeConnect Hub" later in
this guide.
Warning:
If you have the HomeConnect Home Network Ethernet
Kit, review the safety information for the hub before you connect
to it. See "Important Safety information" later in this guide.
Note:
To connect the USB Net-
work Adapter to an
Ethernet hub, you will
need an Ethernet 10BASE-
T straight-through cable.
This cable is not supplied
with the USB Network
Adapter; however, it is
supplied with the
HomeConnect Home
Network Ethernet Kit.
Note:
Power is automatically
supplied to the
HomeConnect Hub when
you plug in the power
adapter.

Install the network hardware
a. Connect the USB Network Adapter to Your Computer
Before you connect the USB Network Adapter, make sure that
your computer is turned on and that Windows 98 is running.
Also make sure that you have installed the HomeClick Network
software, as described in the previous section.

Connect the USB cable to the USB
network Adapter.
2.
Connect the other end of the USB
cable to an available USB port on your
computer.
1. Insert one end of an Ethernet cable
into the USB network adapter that
you just connected to your computer.
2. Insert the other end of the Ethernet
cable into any available computer
port (labeled 1 through 5) on the
hub.
3. Plug the hub power adapter into the
hub and then into an AC power
socket. The hub turns on automati-
cally.
c. Restart your computer.
