Recycling and disposal

The WEEE symbol means that this product and batteries must be

disposed separately from other household waste. When they

reach their end of life, take them to a designated waste collection

point in your area to guarantee a safe disposal or recycling. Protect

the environment, human health and natural resources!

Alarm silence facility

When the smoke alarm has detected smoke and turns into the alarm

mode, you can mute the alarm for a minimum of 5 minutes and a

maximum 15 minutes by pressing the test panel. After that, the smoke

alarm automatically resets and returns into the normal operation mode.

If there are still particles of combustion in the air, the smoke alarm will

turn into the alarm mode again. WARNING: Use this function only if you

are absolutely sure that the alarm was triggered by a known problem,

e.g. smoke development during cooking.

Low battery mode

When the battery is running low, the smoke alarm will indicate this with

a repetitive beep and flash for approximately 30 days. WARNING: This

smoke alarm is equipped with a non-replaceable battery. When this

warning occurs, replace the device as soon as possible! The acoustic low

battery warning signal can be muted for ten hours by pressing the test

panel. The smoke alarm is still functioning and able to detect smoke

when it's in this mode.

Fault warning mode

The smoke alarm runs through a periodical self-test. When the smoke

sensor is not functioning properly, it will turn into the sensor fault

warning mode. Try cleaning the smoke alarm (see paragraph

“Maintenance”) or replace the smoke alarm!

If the buzzer is not working correctly, the device will turn into the buzzer

fault warning mode. Please immediately contact the manufacturer or

replace the smoke alarm when this occurs.

Night mode

This smoke alarm has an automatic night mode. In dark rooms, the led

signal will be dimmed to prevent disturbance of the night's sleep.

Overview visual & acoustic signals

Maintenance

•  This smoke alarm is equipped with a self-testing mechanism. We

recommend to test the smoke detector manually at least once every

three months by using the test facility. If the smoke alarm functions

correctly, it will generate a loud beep. Due to the loudness of the

alarm, make sure that you always stand at arm’s length distance from

the unit when you are testing. If the smoke alarm does not generate

an acoustic signal, the smoke alarm must be replaced immediately!

•  Clean the smoke alarm at least once per month to remove dirt, dust or

debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush and vacuum all sides

and covers of the smoke alarm. Do not remove the top cover of the

smoke alarm to clean it inside.

•  Do not attempt to repair this smoke alarm. If the smoke alarm shows a

damage related to its functionality, it must be replaced!

•  Trouble shooting: False alarm is often caused by insect penetration,

dust or steam.

Disassembling

To disassemble the smoke alarm, take a screw driver and push it into the

mounting hole. Then, turn the smoke alarm counterclockwise to remove

it from the mounting bracket.

Thank you for purchasing our smoke alarm!

Before using the device, please read these instructions carefully to

Warnings

•  To prevent injury, this device must be securely attached to the

ceiling/wall in accordance with the installation instructions.

•  Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine,

fire or the like.

•  Do not paint or cover the smoke alarm.

•  In rooms with simple sloped, peaked or gabled ceilings, install smoke

alarms on the ceiling 900mm (3 feet) from the highest point of the

ceiling. “Dead air” at the peak of a ceiling may prevent the smoke

from reaching the alarm in time to provide an early warning.

Where not to install a smoke alarm

•  In an environment with a high risk of draught (e.g. close to air

conditioning, fans and ventilation outlets). The movement of air can

impair the penetration of fire smoke into the smoke alarm.

•  Areas where fumes or cooking smoke occur, such as kitchens.

•  Areas with high humidity such as bathrooms, or close to appliances

such as dish washers or washing machines.

•  Areas where dust can accumulate such as the garage or attic.

Mounting

•  Place the mounting plate on the desired installation location and mark

where the holes should be drilled.

•  Drill two holes with a diameter of 5 millimetres.

•  Push the plastic plugs into the holes.

•  Insert the screws into the mounting plate, and tighten them firmly into

the plugs.

•  Place the smoke alarm on the mounting bracket and secure it by

turning it clockwise.

Activation

Before commissioning the

smoke alarm, it is

important to activate it

and test it for correct

operation.

•  When fixing the alarm

body to the bracket the

alarm is automatically

activated.

•  Press the full face test

panel and hold it in for

approximately 3

seconds until the alarm

siren sounds. Release

the test panel

immediately a

ft

er this.

The smoke alarm will

generate a beep to

indicate that it's

activated.

Where to install a smoke alarm

•  As a minimum, smoke alarms should be located between sleeping

areas and potential sources of fire such as living rooms and kitchens.

In single story homes with one sleeping area, a smoke alarm should be

installed in the hallway, as close as possible to the living

accommodation. To ensure audibility in bedrooms, no smoke alarm

should be further away than 3m from any bedroom door. It may be

necessary to install more than one smoke alarm, particularly if the

hallway is more than 15m long. In single story homes with two

separate sleeping areas, a minimum of two smoke alarms is required,

one outside each sleeping area. In multilevel or split level homes, as a

minimum a smoke alarm should be installed on the ground floor

between the staircase and any rooms in which a fire might start and

on each story in circulation areas which form part of escape route

(normally hallways and landings).

•  Additional alarms should be installed in bedrooms in anticipation of

fires originating there, caused by faulty wiring, lights, appliances,

smokers or other hazards.

•  For best protection, smoke alarms should be installed in every room in

your home, apart from those listed in the next section. Heat alarms

should be used in kitchens, boiler rooms, laundry rooms, garages and

such like, where smoke alarms would be unsuitable.

•  Install smoke alarms in circulation areas at a distance no greater than

7.5m from the farthest wall, no greater than 7.5m from a door to any

room in which a fire might start and no greater than 7.5m from the

next smoke alarm.

•  As it is impossible to predict the source of a fire, the best location for

an alarm is usually the center of a room or hallway. If it is necessary to

place a smoke alarm on a wall, always locate the detection element of

the alarm 150mm to 300mm (6 to 12 inches) below the ceiling and the

bottom of the alarm above the level of doors and other openings.
