Channel Selection
Set the operating frequency/channel depending on your particular region.
Select a channel from the drop-down list box. The options vary depending on the
frequency band and the country you are in.
Security Mode
Select
Static WEP
if the access point to which you want to connect uses WEP data
encryption.
PassPhrase
Enter a passphrase (up to 26 printable characters) and click
Generate
.
A passphrase functions like a password. In WEP security mode, it is further converted by
the WAP3205 v2 into a complicated string that is referred to as the “key”. This key is
requested from all devices wishing to connect to a wireless network.
WEP Encryption
Select
64-bits
or
128-bits
.
This dictates the length of the security key that the network is going to use.
Encryption Type
Select
Open
or
Shared Key
from the drop-down list box.
This field specifies whether the wireless clients have to provide the WEP key to log into
the wireless network. Keep this setting at
Open
unless you want to force a key
verification before communication between the wireless client and the ZyXEL Device
occurs.
Select
Shared Key
to force the clients to provide the WEP key prior to communication.
ASCII
Select this option in order to enter ASCII characters as WEP key.
Hex
Select this option in order to enter hexadecimal characters as a WEP key.
The preceding "0x", that identifies a hexadecimal key, is entered automatically.
Key 1 to Key 4
The WEP keys are used to encrypt data. Both the WAP3205 v2 and the access point must
use the same WEP key for data transmission.
If you chose
HEX
, enter 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters in the range of "A-F", "a-f" and
"0-9" (for example, 11AA22BB33) for a 64-bit or 128-bit WEP key respectively.
If you chose
ASCII
, enter any 5 or 13 ASCII characters (case sensitive) ranging from "a-
z", "A-Z" and "0-9" (for example, MyKey) for a 64-bit or 128-bit WEP key respectively.
Select a default WEP key to use for data encryption. You must configure at least one key,
only one key can be activated at any one time. The default key is key 1.
