Wireless channel release:
The BSC releases the wireless link, which is not in use any longer.
Figure 41 shows the wireless channel release procedure.

When an activated wireless channel not in use any longer, BSC sends
RF channel release message (RF CHAN REL) to the related TRX and
channel. The CHP module processes the channel release. On release of
the related resources, OB06 returns RF channel release
acknowledgment message (RF CHAN REL ACK) to BSC. If the CHP
cannot release the channel successfully, FURRM sends the ERROR
REPORT message to BSC.

SACCH procedure comprises of the following:
•
Measurement report:
BSC processes MS and OB06 measurement results and use these
results for power control transmission and handover preparation.
The MS measurement results in the (RR) MEAS REP message, which it
reports once every SACCH block (480 ms). If other signaling is using
the SACCH, BSC reports once every two SACCH blocks (960 ms). The
TRX measures the level and quality of the received signals in the
current uplink channel. The average time is the period of one SACCH
block. The (RR) MEAS REP message that MS sends to OB06 contains
the measurement results for the dedicated channel and adjacent cells.
BSC transmits OB06 and MS measurement-results on the Abis
interface. See ‘Basic measurement report’ for details. In addition,
OB06 and BSC also support pre-processing for these basic
measurement data in OB06. This is to reduce the signaling load on
Abis interface. See ‘measurement report pre-processing ’ for details.
The FURRM receives CHP measurement report before MS measurement
report. As a result, when FURRM starts group sending of Abis MEAS
