Inconsistent or
questionable readings .
• Interference with the
locator’s readings .
• Avoid wearing watches and jewelry.
• Use the handle attachment and/or
optional extension pole .
Tool is unable to calibrate and
shows the letters “ERR” in the
Numeric Depth Indicator area
of the display .
• There is too much metal near
the tool’s calibration point .
• Move the tool to another location and
perform the calibration process again by
pressing and releasing the CAL button .
Tool is unable to definitively
determine the center of the
target although all the Relative
Signal Strength bars turn on
and the Numeric Depth value
is “00” .
• Tool is too close to a large
mass of metal, making the
reading too saturated .
• Recalibrate the tool and/or move the tool
away and move back slowly .
Tool does not indicate metal in
the area when, in fact, there is .
Hatch door becomes dislodged .
• Tool is calibratd too close to
the target .
• Excessive force or hard drop.
• Calibrate the tool in several different
locations and compare results .
Always perform several scans of
an area to confirm consistent results
are achieved .
• Insert hatch door vertically at a 45° angle
and twist upwards until it snaps back
into place .
