Initial Operation / Maintenance
If the units are not delivered with filled oil, fill in the transmission oil before
the initial operation!
Oil grade for transmission types GK 20, GK 25, GK 30
Approved are only oils which fulfill the below specifications:
•
Classification to API-GL5
•
Classification to MIL-L-2105C/D, test method A (score test), test method C (endurance wear test)
•
ZF List of Lubricants TE-ML 17, Lubricant class 17B
Oil grade for transmission type GK 40
Approved are only oils which fulfill the below specifications:
•
Classification to API-GL4 or API-GL5
•
Classification to MIL-L-2105 or MIL-L-2105 C/D
•
ZF List of Lubricants TE-ML 17, Lubricant class 17A and 17B

The use of alternative oil grades requires the written approval by ZF Gotha GmbH.
ZF units are designed up to -30°C. ZF cannot give any warranty for an operation
below -30°C.
In general the components are not damaged in cold store operation at temperatures
to -40°C as these mostly only occur for a short time after vehicle start-up. For critical
single cases independent tests by the vehicle manufacturer are recommended!
