Congratulations! Your dwelling has been fi tted
with a J.E. StorkAir, comfort-unit equipped ven-
tilation system. This system has been installed
in order to provide your house with fresh air at a
pleasant temperature.
For optimum user comfort, it is essential to under-
stand how the system works and how to operate
it. Please therefore read this manual carefully.
Comfortunit
In combination with a heat-recovery unit, the Ar-
tic – hereinafter referred to as Comfortunit – is
designed to regulate to comfortable levels the
temperature and humidity of the fresh air supplied
to your dwelling. This creates a comfortable and
pleasant indoor climate.
The Comfortunit works differently to an air con-
ditioner:
•
An air conditioner recirculates air present in
your dwelling but does not help to ventilate
it. The Comfortunit supplies outdoor air and
is integral to the ventilation system.
•
An air conditioner only works in the room in
which it is located. The Comfortunit cools air
throughout the dwelling.
J.E. StorkAir wishes you
the highest level of comfort in your home with
Comfortunit
.
What is ventilation?
Did you know that we spend at least 70% of our
time between 4 walls? That may seem much, but
think about it: during the day we work indoors, in
the evening we live indoors
and at night we sleep between 4 walls. So, most
of the time, our lives are spent indoors. There is
nothing wrong with being indoors, but we need
to ventilate well. Breathing generates CO
2
in your
home. Furthermore, damp (caused by perspira-
tion, cooking and showering) inside the house not
only causes condensation, mould and nasty sub-
stances and odours, but also increases the risk of
health problems due to reduced air quality (higher
CO
2
concentrations). So in order to improve the
air in your house, you must ventilate. Opening
a window for ten minutes only has a short-term
effect. As soon as you close it, the fresh outside
air disappears. It is therefore vital to ventilate 24
hours a day.
2. Guarantee and
liability
For further information please refer to the fi tting
instructions.
If you suspect a defect, please observe the fol-
lowing safety precautions:
1. Never open the unit. Repairs should only
be carried out by a recognized fi tter.
2. The Comfortunit contains coolant (R134a).
This coolant is colourless, non-toxic and
non-fl ammable. The volume of coolant in the
Comfortunit is so small that it cannot pos-
sibly lead to hazardous concentrations in
your dwelling. The unit has been designed to
prevent coolant from leaking under normal
operating conditions. If you detect a faint,
ether-like smell:
•
Do not touch the unit for at least one hour;
• Open windows and doors in the room in
which the unit is located for at least an
hour;
•
Contact your installer.
3. Operating principles
Your system consists of a number of components,
including a WHR heat-recovery unit and a Com-
fortunit. These devices are controlled using the
ComfoControl Luxe operating panel.
