1.
General
The PAPI units to be provided shall comply with ICAO photometric performances required
for a Precision Approach Path Indicator system except when otherwise stated herein.
PAPI system or APAPI system give pilots visual information for safe approach procedure of
aircraft. PAPI system is composed of 4 PAPI units and APAPI comprises of 2 PAPI units.
The system is placed on the left of the runway aimed outward into the approach zone on a
line parallel to the runway. Each beam of the unit has white color on upper side, red color on
lower side and transition sector between red and white color. The transition sector is very
accurate because that does not exceed 3 minutes of arc over the full beam width.
