Programming
Home position is now found and the homing pin is inserted, programming is next:
Without NS600 Module
1. Switch the programming pendant to MAINTENANCE MODE and proceed:
a) Press TOP MENU key on programming pendant.
b) Cursor to ROBOT and press SELECT.
c) Cursor to HOME POSITION and press SELECT.
d) Press the PAGE OVER key to the desired station (indicated in the top
right corner).
e) Make sure the headstock is in the position that you want to teach as home
and press SELECT.
f) Cursor to YES and press SELECT. The headstock is now reset to zero
With NS600 Module
1. Connect the NS600 serial cable (P/N: 146589-2) to the serial port of a
computer and the other connector on the cable to the CN6 port on the NS600.
2. On the computer, start a program, which supports serial communication. The
following communication parameters must be set. These settings are
referenced in the Sigma II Indexer User’s Manual (P/N: 147238-1) in section
6.1.

Data Bits:7
•
Parity:Even
•
Stop Bits:1
•
Flow Control:None
•
Echo On
NOTE:
• Activating Echo On allows the user to see what characters were typed and transferred.
• Most installations of Windows ® have HyperTerminal automatically installed. This
program is located at: Start Menu – Programs – Accessories – Communications –
HyperTerminal.
3. Start communication from the computer to the NS600. (How to do this will
vary between software used.)
4. The following commands reset the encoder and establishes a new home
position. These steps are covered in the Sigma II Indexer User’s Manual (P/
N:147238-1) in section 5.6.4. Each command to be sent must be followed by
the return key to transmit the carriage-return character to terminate the
instruction.
