journal.
N O TE :
D o not put the Pl asti gauge® over the oil
hole in the m ain journal of the crankshaft,
install the low er half of the bearings into
the crankcase (low er) and assem ble the
crankcase halves.
N O TE :
Align the projection of the bearing w ith
the notch in the crankcase.
D o not m ove the crankshaft until the oil
clearance has been com pleted.
Tighten the bolts to specification in the
tightening sequence cast on the crank-
case.
B olt (C rankcase-M 10):
40 N m (4.0 29 ft• lb)
W ith a w asher

R em ove the crankcase (low er) and low er
half of the bearing.
M easure the com pressed Pl asti gauge® ’
w idth on each m ain journal.
If oil clearance is out of specification,
select a replacem ent bearing.
4.M easure:
O il clearance (crank pin)
O ut of specification R eplace bearing.

M easu rem en t step s:
D o not interchange the bearings and con-
necting rod. They m ust be installed in their
original positions, or the correct oil clear-
ance m ay not be obtained causing engine
dam age.
