Sound Edge Application Software
Reading Wave Files
You can read wave files recorded by other application software and files of previously created
material, and you can edit the waveforms. SampleEdit can handle the following three types of
files, but only files that have the .WAV or .OPL file extension can be read and used for waveform
editing.
.WAV (Waveform Audio):
The standard format for digital audio files used in Windows.
.OPL (OPL Waveform Audio):
The wave file format to which has been edited and added the parameters of the internal tone
generator(OPL4).
.OMP (OPL Download Map):
The file format with the .OPL files assigned and listed in the Mapping window. For details on
.OPL files, see page 60.
£
SampleEdit is compatible with the following wave data: 8 or 16 bit; 11.015, 22.050, or 44.1 kHz sampling;
monaural. If the wave file that was read is a stereo sample, only the left-channel data is read and displayed.
Reading Procedure
1.
Choose [Open] from the [File] menu. The File Selection dialog box appears.
2.
Select the desired wave file. Click [OK]. When a .WAV file or .OPL file is read, the waveform
editing window is displayed in the work area and a waveform is displayed.
£
When a .WAV file is read, actually a new .OPL file is created with initial values of the wave parameters that
correspond to the wave file. Therefore, the original .WAV file remains unchanged, and editing will be performed on
duplicate.
£
When a .OMP file is read, the Mapping window appears and the list for downloading appears. For details, see
page 59.
