CHECKING THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLIES

The following procedure applies to both of the
front shock absorber assemblies.
1. Check:

• Front shock absorber assembly

Oil leaks

→

Replace the front shock absorber

assembly.

• Front shock absorber rod

Bends/damage

→

Replace the front shock

absorber assembly.

• Spring

Move the spring up and down.
Fatigue

→

Replace the front shock absorber

assembly.

• Gas cylinder

Damage/gas leaks

→

Replace the front

shock absorber assembly.

CHECKING THE FRONT ARM BALL JOINTS

The following procedure applies to each of the
front arm ball joints.
1. Check:

• Ball joint (front upper arm)

Damage/pitting

→

Replace the front upper

arm.
Free play

→

Replace the front upper arm.

Rough movement

Replace the front upper

arm.

2. Check:

• Ball joint (front lower arm)

Damage/pitting

→

Replace the ball joint.

b. Remove the circlip “1”, boot retaining ring “2”

and rubber boot “3”.
Use the ball joint remover and installer set.
