The sound suddenly
goes off.
The protection circuitry has been activated
because of a short circuit, etc.
Check that the speaker impedance setting is correct.
Check that the speaker wires are not touching each
other and then turn this unit back on.

Turn on this unit, and play the source again.

The sound is muted.
Press MUTE or /– on the remote control
to resume audio output.
Sound is heard from
the speaker on one
side only.
Incorrect cable connections.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem persists,
the cables may be defective.
Incorrect settings in “SPEAKER

Adjust the “SPEAKER LEVEL” settings.
Only the center
speaker outputs
substantial sound.
When playing a monaural source with a
CINEMA DSP program, the source signal
is directed to the center channel, and the
front and surround speakers output effect
sounds.

“CENTER SP” in “SET MENU” is set to
“NONE”.
Set “CENTER SP” to “SML” or “LRG”.
One of the HiFi DSP programs (except for
“6ch Stereo”) has been selected.

“SUR. L/R SP” in “SET MENU” is set to
“NONE”.
Set “SUR. L/R SP” to “SML” or “LRG”.
This unit is in the “STRAIGHT” mode
and a monaural source is being played
back.
Press STRAIGHT (EFFECT) on the front panel so
that “STRAIGHT” disappears from the front panel
display.
No sound is heard
from the surround
back speaker.
“SUR. L/R SP” in “SET MENU” is set to
“NONE” and “SUR. B SP” is
automatically set to “NONE”.
Set “SUR. L/R SP” and “SUR. B SP” to “SML” or
“LRG”.
“SUR. B SP” in “SET MENU” is set to
“NONE”.
Set “SUR. B SP” to “SML” or “LRG”.
No sound is heard
from the subwoofer.
“LFE/BASS OUT” in “SET MENU” is
set to “FRNT” when a Dolby Digital or
DTS signal is being played.
Set “LFE/BASS OUT” to “SWFR” or “BOTH”.
“LFE/BASS OUT” in “SET MENU” is
set to “SWFR” or “FRNT” when a 2-
channel source is being played.
Set “LFE/BASS OUT” to “BOTH”.
The source does not contain low-
frequency signals.
