Cowling A
To remove the cowling
1. Remove the screws from cowling
A.
2. Pull cowling A off as shown.
TIP

When removing cowling A, pull out on
the areas shown from top to bottom.

To install the cowling
1. Align the projections on cowling A
with the slots of inner cowling, and
then push cowling A into the origi-
nal position.
2. Install cowling A by installing the
screws.
TIP
When installing cowling A, push in on
the areas shown from bottom to top.

Checking the spark plug
The spark plug is an important engine
component, which is easy to check.
Since heat and deposits will cause any
spark plug to slowly erode, the spark
plug should be removed and checked
in accordance with the periodic mainte-
nance and lubrication chart. In addition,
the condition of the spark plug can re-
veal the condition of the engine.
To remove the spark plug
1. Place the vehicle on the center-
stand.
2. Remove panel A. (See page 7-6.)
3. Remove the spark plug cap.
4. Remove the spark plug as shown,
with the spark plug wrench includ-
ed in the owner’s tool kit.
