Operation

51

If the engine is warm and fails to start, open
the throttle slightly and try to start the en-
gine again. If the engine still fails to start,
see page 85.

EMU38640

Electric start and remote control models

WARNING

EWM01840

Failure to attached engine shut-off cord
could result in a runaway boat if opera-
tor is ejected. Attach the engine shut-off
cord to a secure place on your clothing,
or your arm or leg while operating. Do
not attach the cord to clothing that could
tear loose. Do not route the cord where
it could become entangled, preventing it
from functioning.

Avoid accidentally pulling the cord dur-
ing normal operation. Loss of engine
power means the loss of most steering
control. Also, without engine power, the
boat could slow rapidly. This could
cause people and objects in the boat to
be thrown forward.

1.

If the lock mode of the Yamaha Security
System is selected, use the remote con-
trol transmitter to select the unlock mode.
Short beep will sound twice when unlock-
ing the Yamaha Security System. For fur-
ther information, see page 19.

TIP:

If you lost track of the current security
mode, press the lock or unlock button to re-
set the security system.

The signal transmission range of the re-
mote control transmitter varies depending
on the mounting position of the receiver. To
operate the Yamaha Security System cor-
rectly, use the transmitter as close as pos-
sible from the receiver.

If Yamaha Security System may not oper-
ate correctly, repeat the activating proce-
dure once again.

2.

Place the remote control lever in neutral.

TIP:

The start-in-gear protection device prevents
the engine from starting except when in neu-
tral.
3.

Attach the engine shut-off cord to a se-
cure place on your clothing, or your arm
or leg. Then install the clip on the other
end of the cord into the engine shut-off
switch.

4.

Turn the main switch to “

” (on).

5.

Turn the main switch to “

” (start).
