Foreword
Yamaha introduced its first acoustic-electronic hybrid piano, the Disklavier MX100A, in 1987. Since that time
Yamaha has continued to develop and market a variety of hybrid products. These products combine acoustic-
piano technology with the leading-edge digital technology.
This handbook provides a general introduction to product and maintenance concepts for hybrid pianos. It covers
all hybrid models, and is intended as a general guide for persons in charge of servicing these instruments. This
handbook should be used in conjunction with the maintenance handbooks and service handbooks that we publish
separately for each model.
This handbook consists of two parts. Part I describes the features, basic structure, and operating principles of each
hybrid model. Part II describes specific servicing methods.
