4. Tips on Tuning and Regulating the Piano
Upright Piano
Before making adjustments inside of the piano, make sure that the control unit’s power is
switched OFF.
A. Removing exterior panels
1) Open the top board.
2) Remove the upper front board (there are no plates holding the upper front board
stopper in place).
3) Remove the fallboard.
4) Remove the key stop rail.
The piano can now be tuned in the same manner as a regular piano.

When removing the lower front board, remove the
retaining screw from the
lower front board spring
and then remove the board.
B. Cautions when regulating
An acrylic shutter is attached to the underside of each key.
When removing the keyboard, please take care not to damage the shutters.
The E3 uses key sensors to detect key position. For this reason the condition of key
regulation and the key stop rail will have an effect on key sensor detection.
Frequent occurrence of the following conditions may result in errors when the key
sensor is operating.
1. Tight balance rail holes will result in keys that are still raised when the keys are
operated with the automatic piano playback function.
2. The space between the key stop rail and the keyboard is too wide.
After making adjustments to the keyboard (height, depth), the service center mode is
required to perform calibrations.
