Reverse knob operation and reverse 
driving

CAUTION:

Before shifting, stop the machine and re-
turn the throttle lever to its closed posi-
tion. Otherwise the transmission may be
damaged.

1. Bring the machine to a complete stop

and return the throttle lever to the
closed position with the transmission
in neutral.

2. While applying the rear brake lever,

turn the reverse knob clockwise with
your right hand.

3. Shift the transmission into reverse by

pressing down on the shift pedal.

NOTE:

When in reverse, the reverse indicator light
should be on. If the light does not come on,
ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect the machine.

4. Check behind you for people or obsta-

cles, then release the rear brake lever.

5. Open the throttle lever gradually and

continue to watch to the rear while
backing.

You could hit an obstacle or person be-
