SWR Meter Adjustment

Connect the 50-Ohm Dummy Load and Watt
-
meter to the “ANT 1” Jack.

Disconnect the 3-pin plug from J9002 on the AF
Unit, then apply a 4.20 V DC voltage to pin 2 of
J9002, and 0.84 V DC to pin 3 of J9002.

Set the MIC GAIN to Minimum.

Press and hold in the [MODE], [SSB] and [CW]
keys, while turning the radio on, to enter the
alignment mode.

Rotate the [MULTI] knob to select the align
-
ment parameter “4-221 SWR-MTRCO 1.8”.

Rotate the [MPVD] ring so that the
parameter
indication
“128”.

Rotate the [MULTI] knob to select the align
-
ment parameter “4-218 SWR-MTR1.5 1.8”.

Rotate the [MPVD] ring so that the
parameter
indication
“50”.

Press and hold the PTT button, then rotate the
[MPVD] ring so that the SWR meter (on the
front panel) reading is “1.5”. The SWR meter
reading (1.5) is broad (few points). Therefore,
set the [MPVD] ring to the center of this broad
range.

Release the PTT button.

Apply a 4.20 V DC voltage to pin 2 of J9002,
and 1.40 V DC to pin 3 of J9002.

Rotate the [MULTI] knob to select the align
-
ment parameter “4-219 SWR-MTR2.0 1.8”.

Rotate the [MPVD] ring so that the
parameter
indication
“90”.
Note: Please do not change the the Alignment
parameter “4-221 SWR-MTRCO 1.8”. This pa
-
rameter is always “128”.

Press and hold the PTT button, then rotate the
[MPVD] ring so that the SWR meter (on the
front panel) reading is “2.0.” The SWR meter
reading (2.0) is broad (few points). Therefore,
set the [MPVD] ring to the center of this broad
range.

Release the PTT button.

Apply a 4.20 V DC voltage to pin 2 of J9002,
and 2.10 V DC to pin 3 of J9002.

Rotate the [MULTI] knob to select the align
-
ment parameter “4-220 SWR-MTR3.0 1.8”.

Rotate the [MPVD] ring so that the
parameter
indication
“128”.
Note: Please do not change the the Alignment
parameter “4-221 SWR-MTRCO 1.8”. This pa
-
rameter is always “128”.

Press and hold the PTT button, then rotate the
[MPVD] ring so that the SWR meter (on the
front panel) reading is “3.0.” The SWR meter
reading (3.0) is broad (few points). Therefore,
set the [MPVD] ring to the center of this broad
range.

Release the PTT button.

Perform the same procedures for the Alignment
Menus “4-222 SWR-MTR1.5 14” through “4-
224 SWR-MTR3.0 14”, “4-226 SWR-MTR1.5 50”
through “4-228 SWR-MTR3.0 50”.
Note: Please do not change the the Alignment
parameters “4-221 SWR-MTR CO 1.8”, “4-225
SWR-MTR CO 14” and “4-229 SWR-MTR CO
50”. These parameters are always “128”.

Press and hold in the [S.MENU] button to save
the new setting and exit the alignment mode.

Connect the 3-pin plug to J9002 on the AF Unit.
Important Notice: If it will be in a transceiver
transmitting state, without connecting the 3-pin
plug to J9002, there is a possibility that a final
transistor may break.
