second to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.

(1) Remember that the
DCS
is an Encode/Decode system, so your receiver
will remain muted until a matching
DCS
code is received on an incoming
transmission. Switch the
DCS
off when you’re just tuning around the band.
(2) You may select the
DCS
mode on the
Main
band using the
microphone’s
key.
Tone Search Scanning
In operating situations where you don’t know the
CTCSS
or
DCS
tone being used by another
station or stations, you can command the radio to listen to the incoming signal and scan in
search of the tone being used.
