2.5 I N S T A L L I N G MEMORY CHIPS ON T H E XVME-100
As was previously mentioned, there arc a total o f t i g h t 32-pin sockets intended f o r
use b y R A M , E P R O M , EEPROM, a n d M a s k Programmable R O M dcviccs o n t h e
XVME-100 Module.
Installing memory i n a n y o f t h e sockets i s s i m p l y a m a t t e r o f setting t h e p r o p e r
jumpers and installing the memory dcviccs.
The f o l l o w i n g i s t h e procedure f o r installing memory devices i n t h e sockets o n t h e
XVME-100 Memory Module.
1) W i t h a l l p o w e r removed f o r m t h e b o a r d , locate t h e p r o p e r socket (see
Figure 2-1 f o r location o f sockets and banks).
2) R e f e r e n c e the notched end o f the memory chips as shown i n Figure 2-7.
When i n s t a l l i n g a 2 8 p i n c h i p , t h e c h i p should b e oriented t o w a r d s t h e
bottom o f the board, leaving the bottom holes exposed as shown below.

place.
NOTE
Static precautions should be exercised when
handling the memory chips, especially the
CMOS R A M chips.
