F Direct Printing of PDF Files
(with PostScript Software Kit/Hard Disk)
When the optional PostScript software kit and hard disk have been installed, you can send PDF file to the
printer directly for printing without using the printer driver.
The transmitted PDF file will be converted to PostScript file after being stored in the hard disk within the
printer.
The supported PDF files are as follows:

Version PDF 1.3 (format for Adobe Acrobat 4.0)
Language European languages and Japanese.
For languages like Chinese and Korean, printing can be done if the fonts are
embedded in the PDF files.
• When printing has been specified without a paper size setting, it will be done using the document size
of the PDF file. However, when paper of the paper size or document size has not been loaded, paper
selection and printing will be done according to the setting in Tools Mode screen > Common Settings
> System Setup > Print Mode: Paper Switch.
• Printing cannot be done if a password has been set for the PDF file.

When specified simultaneously with
the printer internally-registered
logical printer, some of the actions
cannot be guaranteed to work.
There is a limit to the number of
characters that can be set as logical
printer (within 14 characters for Sun
OS 5.X/HP-UX). As a result, you
cannot specify settings exceeding
this number limit (e.g. multiple
settings that cannot be set like
copies, paper tray, output tray, 2-
sided printing).
Some of the actions set together
with the -C option of lpr cannot be
guaranteed to work.
