The voltages mentioned in this user manual are based on a 12V system. The voltages
must be multiplied as follows: x2 for 24 Volt, x3 for 36 Volt and x4 for 48Volt. On the last
pages you will find the technical specifications of the TBC 600.
The TBC 600 is a fully automatic battery charger and floatcharger in one and can be left
connected to the mains power supply keeping the battery in a good condition. The
microprocessor measures and checks the battery and charge process continuously, wich
results in a very safe and reliable charging process.
The ProMax contains different charging programs. By means of the ‘mode’ button on the
front the charger the charging program is set easily. This way the charger can be
adjusted optimally for each battery type and specific application.
You can use multiple powersources, like solar panels or a dynamo, together with the TBC
600.
Important
Don’t connect devices directly to the connection terminals on the battery charger.
F E A T U R E S
The TBC 600 contains a wide variety of features and protections to promote the usability
and of course also to ensure that the charge process progresses extremely safe.
Reverse polarisation
Reverse polarisation means that the plus and minus connection wires are inadvertently
reversed on the battery or on the charger. Reverse polarisation is indicated by an error
indication. Disconnect, and connect the battery and the charger properly.
Automatic voltage compensation
The battery charger automatically compensates for the voltage drop over the connection
cables. Because of this, it’s possible that a voltage reading on the connection terminals
will be higher than the set value.
Short circuit (output)
The charger is protected from short circuit when no battery is connected, even in the
presence of the mains voltage.
Batteries on the other hand cannot withstand short
circuit. Never short circuit the battery, irrespective of whether the charger is connected
or if the mains voltage is present. When a battery is short circuited there is a danger that
it will explode!!!
Output voltage
The charger can only be activated if a battery has been connected to it. Without the
presence of a battery no voltage readings will be measured.
Soft Start
The TBC 600 features a soft start, so that the charger has no influence on any power
users which may be turned on. Because of this the correct charge level can only be
indicated 3 min after start-up.
