XenData SXL-4200 Getting Started

4.  Importing and Exporting LTO Cartridges

4.1 Importing LTO Cartridges into the Library

Ensure that the barcode labels are correctly attached to the LTO cartridges.

Use the library front panel to open the mail slot and manually insert up to 3 cartridges at a time.

Manually close the mail slot to import the cartridges.

The imported cartridges(s) will be automatically recognized by the XenData software.

4.2 Exporting LTO Cartridges from the Library

Use the XenData Management Console and select the cartridge to be exported in the left pane

of the console. Right click on the cartridge and select ‘Export’.

IMPORTANT

Do not use the library controls to export LTO cartridges.

The mail slot will open automatically. Extend the mail slot and manually remove the cartridge.

Repeat the above if multiple cartridges are to be exported.

5.  LTO Drive Cleaning

LTO drives require cleaning from time to time and this operation is performed automatically by the SXL-
4200 when required by an LTO drive. This operation is managed by the XenData software.

Ensure that at least one cleaning cartridge is present in the tape library. Carefully attach a CLN barcode
label to a cleaning cartridge before importing into the library. Cleaning cartridges should be imported
into the library like any data cartridge, as described in section 4.1.
