4.5. Quick start example
This section is intended to help the user set-up and test the exchange data between two
Thyone-I modules. Minimal pin and antenna connections have to be done on both the modules
as described in sections

. It is recommended to use the Thyone-I evaluation kit for
quick tests. Alternatively, the Thyone-I USB radio stick (USB dongle) can be used.
4.5.1. Prerequisites
The following hardware is required to go through the quick start example.
1. Two Thyone-I evaluation boards (or Thyone-I USB radio stick + evaluation board)
2. Computer with SmartCommander tool or any other a serial terminal emulator.
4.5.2. Hardware configuration
The Thyone-I EV board can be used in its default configuration to go through this example.
Refer to the Thyone-I evaluation board specific manual for a complete hardware description.
4.5.3. Set-up description
In this example, the Thyone-I EV boards are connected to the PC with Smart commander tool
installed (Figure

1. Connect the Thyone-I EV boards to the laptop/PC via USB.
2. The power LED indicates that supply voltage is active.
The FTDI driver [1] for the converter IC on the evaluation board has to be in-
stalled and/or updated. On correct driver installation, the EV board appears as
a virtual COM port.
