AtlasPC Digital Control, Vol. I
Manual 85586V1

On AtlasPC controls using the NT operating system, it is possible
under certain circumstances for the control to experience a failure to
boot when an HMI (Human Machine Interface) is connected and
actively accessing the COM1 port on the Pentium CPU.
This failure to boot is a rare anomaly embedded within the NT
operating system and will not occur when using the VxWorks®*
operating system.
If the AtlasPC control fails to boot with an HMI attached to the CPU
COM 1 port, the accepted solution is to remove the COM1 cable
before booting, and reconnect it following a successful boot.
The preferred alternative is for the GAP application program to use
the COM ports on the SmartCore board if at all possible.
