Dust extraction adapter (Fig. 22)
Also a dust extraction adapter (A) is supplied with the machine. It has an opening with inner
diameter of 38 mm where a vacuum cleaner/dust collection system can be connected.
OPERATION
-
The blade cuts on a continuous downstroke. The blade must always be sharp.
-
Best result is obtained with wood with a maximum thickness of 127 mm.
-
Hold the workpiece down on the table firmly with both hands and feed it slowly towards
the blade, putting only light pressure on it and keeping your hands away from the blade.
-
Select right blade for each job, according to wood thickness and cut to be made. The
thinner and harder the wood, the finer blade toothing should be used. Use a fine-tooth
blade for sawing sharp curves.
-
Use a cross guide to feed the workpiece along the blade slowly and in a straight line.
-
Band saw is especially suitable for sawing curves but will also make straight cuts.
-
Follow the marks you have made on the workpiece by pushing and turning the workpiece
slowly during sawing. Do not attempt to turn the workpiece without pushing it as this
could cause the workpiece to get stuck or the blade to bend.
Working instructions
-
Clamp the workpiece to the saw table. Support the workpiece to prevent it from breaking
making sure your hand is behind the blade and moves away from it. The arm that holds
down the workpiece must not cross the arm that operates the band saw.
-
Never use your hands to remove sawdust, chips or waste close by the blade. If chips get
stuck between fixed and/or moving parts, stop the machine, disconnect it from the socket
and wait until the blade has stopped completely before removing them.
-
When sawing small wood pieces, use a pusher block to feed the workpiece along the
blade. Do not cut pieces that are too small to be safely supported.
-
The saw blade is one of the most important components of the machine. Selecting the
right material and toothing as well as correct fitting of the blade not only prolong the life
of the blade but also prevent it from breaking and cracking.
-
Be careful when sawing scrap wood. If sawing quality is not important, user might be less
concentrated. Remember to check the wood for nails, knots and other irregularities even
on such case in order not to put undue pressure on the blade.
-
Avoid awkward hand positions where a sudden slip could cause your hand to move into
the blade.
-
Switch off the machine if the workpiece must be pulled back during an uncompleted cut.
-
Make ”release” cut before sawing long curves.
Switch off the machine immediately if
-
the machine becomes overheated.
-
the cord and/or the plug is defective or damaged.
-
switch is defective.
-
insulation material starts to smell or burn.
