VX 52 B / VX 53 B series
RF amplifier - single output stage
4.4.2 Automatic level and slope control (ALSC)
The measurement of the level of RF pilot tones (or pilot channels) by VX 58 B enables
the automatic regulation of the amplifier‘s gain and slope controls to a referenced
output level.
This compensates for cable loss variations, mainly depending on temperature changes.
For the activation of the ALSC regulation, follow these steps:
1. Make sure that the
ALSC mode
is set to „off“.
2. Adjust the downstream attenuators and downstream slopes (see section 3.6.4).
3. Choose one or two reference channels (pilots) from your RF channel lineup and set
the
pilot frequency
and the
pilot modulation format
accordingly.
4.
Normalizing the ALSC
stores the currently measured pilot levels as
ALSC refer-
ence level
.
5. Activate the regulation by setting the
ALSC mode
to the number of pilots you
have configured.
