Mounting the DOT6H 360° Remote Strobe Head...
There are two basic mounting procedures that could be used to permanently mount the DOT-6H 360 Remote Strobe
Head. If you have a 360 strobe without the extended base, follow procedure 1
.
If your 360 has an extended base
(regardless of it’s size), follow procedure 2
.
Both procedures will assume the 360 is being installed on the headboard of
the vehicle. If you selected the pole mount option, refer to the instruction sheet included with that kit for the installation
procedure.
Procedure 1 (DOT-6H 360 with Standard Base)...
1.
Place the DOT-6H 360 Remote Strobes in their mounting location. Be sure that this location will not expose the
light to potential damage by contact with other equipment or the vehicle itself. Now remove the DOT-6H from the
vehicle and
secure
the supplied drilling template to the mounting surface to prevent it from moving.
2.
Begin to disassemble the DOT-6H by loosening and removing the ring clamp.
3.
Remove the reflector, lens and strobe base assembly from the 360 base.
4.
Gently pull the harness cable up through the base untill full access to the interior of the base is possible.
5.
Locate the 3 “dimples” along the interior bottom of the base. These “dimples” indicate where the mounting holes
are to be drilled. Using a 7/32” (approx.) drill bit, drill through the base of the DOT-6H at the “dimples” locations.
6.
Locate the circular neoprene gasket included with your kit. Position this gasket against the outside bottom of the
360 base and align the holes in the gasket with the holes drilled in the base. Now remove the protective sheet
from the adhesive-backed side of the gasket and carefully position the gasket on the bottom of the base of the
DOT-6H. Make sure that the gasket does not cover or obscure
any
of the mounting holes.
7.
Drill the 3 mounting holes with a 1/8” drill bit as shown on the template. After test-fitting the base, drill the harness
cable passage hole with a 3/8” drill bit (
a multi-bit works well for this
). Be sure to grommet this hole to prevent
water leakage.
8.
Insert the end of the harness cable through the passage hole In the back of the cab. From inside the cab, pull the
cable through the passage hole until there is no excess slack.
9.
Using the supplied #10 x 3/4” sheet metal screws, secure the DOT-6H base to the vehicle. Feed the excess cable
into the vehicle as you replace the strobe base assembly onto the base. Re-assemble the remaining components
and tighten the ring clamp.
10. Route the harness cable to the power supply (See Fig. “A” for Wire Path). Insert the pinned wire into the 3
position connector as follows:
