Chip Guard and Wedge Shifter
Mounting the Chip Guard
Fasten the chip guard (S) around the collar of the quill
shaft (24). The height of the transparent guard is infi-
nitely adjustable and can be fixed with both wing screws
on the side.
To replace the drill bit just flip up the hinged chip guard.
Wedge Shifter
To remove the drill chuck from the spindle, use the
included wedge shifter (U).
1. Loosen the lock screw (38) and completely move down the spindle (O) with
the feed handle (F).
2. Re-tighten the lock screw (38). The quill shaft (24) has two large, oval
openings.
3. Turn the drill chuck (C) until the opening in the spindle fits with the opening of
the quill shaft.
4. Insert the wedge shifter (U) into the opening of the quill shaft (24) and lightly
beat with a hammer on the wedge shifter. The morse taper arbor with the drill
chuck will fall down. Hold the drill chuck to avoid dropping on the ground.
