Cleaning and Storing
If you intend to store the lawn mower for long time, proceed as follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank.
2. Start the engine and wait until the engine comes to a stop. By doing this,
all fuel will be combusted from the lines and the carburettor. This will
prevent the nozzles from gumming and resinfication during storage time.
3. Drain the used oil from the oil tank. Fill the oil tank with fresh engine oil up
to the MAX marking.
4. Remove the spark plug and fill one teaspoon clean engine oil into the
cylinder opening. Slowly pull the starter handle (13) several times in order
to distribute the oil evenly. Reattach the spark plug on the cylinder. Finally
pull the recoil starter once more until a resistance is felt. Now, both valves
(inlet valve and outlet valve) are closed. In this position the engine is
protected against corrosion.
5. Thoroughly clean the housing of the lawn mower with a hand broom or a
cloth. Lightly lubricate all metal parts with oil to protect them from rust.
Store the lawn mower in dry location and protect the machine from dust
and dirt. Select a storage location that is well ventilated.
When covering the lawn mower during storage, do not use a plastic
tarpaulin, it will trap moisture around the engine. Preferably cover the
machine with a gunnysack or similar.
Some components are subject to wear and deterioration. Frequently check
these components and replace them, when necessary. Only use original
replacement parts.
The paintwork on the inside of the chassis may peel off in time due to the
abrasive action of the cut grass. If desired, apply new paintwork using a
rustproof paint to prevent the formation of rust.
