1.4 How to use this manual
General
This operating manual applies to all instrument versions
of the USM 100. Any differences in the functions or ad-
justment values are marked in each case.
Before operating the instrument for the first time, be
sure to read in full the chapters
Introduction (see from
page 21), Initial start-up (see from page 45) and Prin-
ciples of operation (see from page 67). There you will
find safety instructions, an overview and information on
the necessary preparations of the instrument for the in-
spection. In doing this, you will avoid any errors or fail-
ures of the instrument and be able to use the full range
of instrument functions.
To find information on a specific function, it is best to
search the
Index at the end of these operating instruc-
tions (see page 309).
The specifications of the instrument can be found in the
Specifications chapter (see page 303).
Attention and note symbols
ATTENTION
The ATTENTION symbol is used to indicate
warnings that, if ignored, may result in per-
sonal injury or damage to the instrument or
other property. It also indicates warnings
concerning the safety of data or measure-
ment results.
Note
The Note symbol is used to indicate special
features of the device, important references
to other information sources or special rec-
ommendations related to a function.
