I N TR OD UC T I ON
The i nstrument is electrica l l y operational as shi pped from the factory . The
fol l ow i ng paragraphs describe inspection, power requirements, i nterconnectio n ,
and operation.

I N S PE CT I ON
This i nstrument was carefu l l y i nspected and tested prior to shipment. It was
operated for a number of hours to reduce the probabi l ity of early fai l ure . After
unpacking the unit, inspect it carefu l l y for shi pping damag e . Check especia l l y
for broken controls and connectors, and dented o r s cratched cabinet ports .
Shou l d the i nstrument show any signs of damage, fi l e a claim with the carrier
immediatel y . Preserve the carton and packing mate rials; they wi l l be required
by the carrier.
It is recommended that conformance to specifi cations be verified upon receipt.
In case of d iscrepancies, refer to the warranty at the beginning of this manua l .

Mode l s 452 and 852 are designed for tab l e -top operation or i nsta l lation in a
standard 1 9 -i nch RETMA rack. Ambient temperature within the rack must not
50°C whi l e the i nstrument is operat i ng . Other paragraphs i n this
section describe connections and switch settings whi ch should be made before the
unit is i nsta l l e d .
Instal lation
To convert the instrument for mounting into a standard
