Installation
1. Connect the GHT adapter - The HydraPump® 12V Utility Submersible has an adapter
that can be connected to allow the attachment of a standard garden hose.
Alternatively, an 1-¼” NPT hose fitting can be directly connected to the pump for
maximum performance and the adapter is not required in this case. See ‘Expert Tip’
for more information.
2. Ensure a tight seal - When attaching piping ensure a watertight seal. Remember
that the adapter includes a check valve which can be removed if not needed to
increase performance.
3. Place upright on a hard, flat surface in the water. Do not set the pump directly on
muddy or sandy surfaces since this could cause the inlet screen to clog or the pump
not to function.
4. Toggle the On/Off Switch - Make sure that the switch is in the ‘Off’ position. This will
help limit surprises when connecting the battery.
5. Connect the battery - Carefully attach the black alligator clip to the negative (-)
terminal of the battery. Next, carefully attach the red alligator clip to the positive (+)
terminal of the battery.
On-Going Operation
Once the pump has been properly piped in and correctly connected to a charged 12V, the
pump will operate with the On/Off switch. The pump needs to remain upright at all times in
order for the best possible performance.
If the pump is not upright please correct this or
damage may occur to the pump.
Note: Do not operate the pump without water present for pumping. This could damage the
pump.
Adapter Connections
The pump adapter allows for two types of connections. The first connection is a ¾” Garden
Hose Thread (GHT) connection and the second is a 1-¼” National Pipe Thread (NPT) standard
connection.

Expert TIP:
For improved outlet flow larger hoses or adapters can be attached. The entire
GHT adapter can be unscrewed and a 1-¼” n NPT hose can be attached to the
pump outlet. When attaching directly to this please use plumber’s tape when
attaching NPT threaded connectors for a better seal.
