5 Modem Operation
After the network configuration is complete, the LAN-Modem behaves on
the serial side just like a dial-up modem with an AT command set, except
that the TCP/IP LAN takes the place of the telephone line. As far as the
controlling application or controlling device is concerned, all that needs to
happen is that the previously used telephone number is replaced by the IP
address of the distant terminal.
