Only after this step is access to the management interface of
the Microwall VPN protected by the password.
IP assignment
During initial commissioning, ensure that there is no unau-
thorized access to the Microwall until the password has been
assigned on the initial web page. A suitable measure is, for
example, to perform the commissioning via a point-to-point
connection with the configuring computer. Only then is the
Microwall connected to the actual target networks.
Password
Operational use of the Microwall without a password is not
possible. The password is the central protection against un-
authorized access to the configuration and management of
the Microwall. We recommend using a secure password with a
length of at least 15 characters, consisting of upper and lower
case letters, digits and special characters.
Registration for security-related information
Devices can be registered with W&T via the inventory tool. In
the event of security-relevant updates and/or information, we
will notify you immediately by email. In addition to the perso-
nal data provided, device-specific data is also stored during
registration.
11�1�5 Operation and configuration

Web-based management can only be accessed in encrypted
form via HTTPS. A device-specific, self-signed default certifica-
te is used ex works for this purpose, for which an exception
must be set up in the browser used during commissioning.
For access during operation, we recommend replacing the de-
fault certificate with your own individual certificate to protect
against man-in-the-middle attacks.
