51 DHCP server
The Microwall can work as a DHCP server in
Network 2
. The
DHCP server is activated and configured in the menu branch
Basic settings -> DHCP server
.
Dynamic leases in case of service
Exclusively for service applications, e.g. for the quick connec-
tion of a notebook, the DHCP server supports the dynamic
assignment of IP addresses from a configurable address pool.
The Microwall DHCP server does not create a binding between
a dynamically assigned IP address and the MAC address of
the respective client. In response to new requests, the first
free address from the pool is always assigned, regardless of
whether the host may have been previously assigned a diffe-
rent address.
For this reason, static leases must be created for DHCP clients
that are used in release rules during operation.
Static leases
To support static DHCP leases, the Microwall provides on 3
lists.
DHCP lease requests
All requests received by the Microwall on network 2 for
which no static lease has yet been assigned are listed
here. The button
starts the dialog for creating a static
lease for the respective device.
Static DHCP leases
All created static leases are listed here and can be edited.
The button
allows you to create a new lease manually.
As a default for the DNS server, the Microwall assigns its
IP address in Network 2 and works there as a DNS proxy.
i
The assignment of the Microwall as DNS proxy for the cli-
ents is the prerequisite for the use of the Discover mode.
