The DSM function ensures that objects attached to the vehicle (such as
trailer couplings) are not classified as obstacles. As a rule they do not
protrude more than 0.4 m over the sensors. They are therefore in the close
area (zone 3) of up to 0.4 m, in which MAGIC WATCH gives a stop warning
and where you should stop (see the section on “Performing a functional test”
on page 44).
Caution!
If loads or objects on the vehicle protrude over the close area of 0.4
m, there is a danger of accidents. An obstacle can collide with the
load or the object before it is detected by the sensors in the close
area and before MAGIC WATCH gives a stop warning (see

page 6).
