Replacement of rear crankshaft
seal
The seal consists of a rubber ring and is accessible
once the plate behind the flywheel housing and the
elastic coupling, flywheel* and flywheel housing have
been removed.
*Note.
Mark the flywheel position on the crankshaft (simplifies
installation).
1.
Remove the crankshaft rear seal (1). Check that
the spaces for the seal on the engine block and
crankshaft are clean. Apply grease to the sealing
edges and install the seal.
2.
Apply an even layer of sealant 840 879 around the
seal (2) and camshaft (3).
3.
Install the flywheel, the elastic coupling, the
adapter plate and the flywheel housing.
Tightening torque, please refer to the “Technical
Data” chapter.
Replacement of front crankshaft
seal
The seal consists of a rubber ring and can be replaced
once the crankshaft pulley has been removed. Use
puller 999 5919 to remove the seal.
1.
Remove the key and tape over the keyway.
2.
Apply grease to the new seal and install it with a
suitable socket.
3.
Remove the tape. Install the key and crankshaft
pulley.
Tightening torque, please refer to the “Technical
Data” chapter
