Lubrication and checks
Daily
1. Engine oil level
Check the oil level daily with the engine switched off. Wipe
the oil dipstick with a clean cloth. Do not use cotton waste.
The level should be between the two marks on the dipstick.
Never below the lower mark. For changing the oil, see pa-
ges 19 and 20.
The fuel injection pump and the turbo-compressor are au-
tomatically lubricated through the engine lubricating sys-
tem. The fresh water pump and the seawater pump are lub-
ricated at the factory and further lubrication is therefore not
required.

2. Reverse gear oil level
Check the oil level daily with the dipstick and add oil if ne-
cessary. When checking the oil level in the Twin Disc rever-
se gear, the engine should be idling and the operating con-
trol in neutral position.
The oil level in the Borg Warner and SCG reverse gears
should be checked when the engine is not running. The le-
vel will lie above the ”max” mark when the engine has
been switched off for a sufficiently long period of time to al-
low the oil to run down from the cooler and passages. In or-
der to obtain a true level reading, check immediately after
the engine has stopped. Regarding changing oil, see
page 31.
