Monitor
The Monitor feature provides access to the installed system for diagnostic purposes. These
capabilities benefit Service personnel which enables them to support the end user remotely.
Different levels of access, via password, allows authorized personnel to trace, monitor and
upload critical information directly from the
XTS-IP
System. This provides a more accurate
means of acquiring system information that leads to a quick resolution of problems that may
occur. This is all done without interfering with ongoing call processing or normal system
operation, and in many cases may be performed without a site visit. Port 1 on the MPB and the
modem are used for monitor access.
The capabilities allowed and reserved for this
high-level troubleshooting
are:
Monitor Mode
Enable & Disable Event Trace
Dump Trace Buffer (up-load)
Monitor Password
The Monitor password (like
Maintenance
), is entered using a six-character alphanumeric string.
To access the password prompt:
1. Press the <Enter> key of the device connected to the SIU or SIU2 Module.
2. When the
password
>prompt displays, type
etrace
, then press <Enter>.
(Proper entry of the password will display the
mon
> prompt.)
The Monitor feature is intended for use only under the guidance and
instruction by authorized personnel from VODAVI Technical Support.
Care and caution must be observed when using this feature as permanent
damage to the software structure can occur.
