AFTER THE INITIAL START-UP
GENERAL TIPS
THE IMAGE IS OUT OF FOCUS
After the initial start-up of your VUMAN system, you
may notice following points:
In this chapter, we provide you with a few general tips,
wich can help you to achieve good inspection results
economically and quick. The tips do not concern your
work safety, but exclusively serve the purpose of com-
municating general technical knowledge.
Please ensure following points before entering the
device / probe into the application:
Ensure that the application is not impu
-
rified with liquids, the viscosity of which
lies below that of water (e.g. glysantine).
In such case, a suitable special camera
head with sealed fix focus optic is needed.
THE IMAGE APPEARS SLIGHTLY
VIOLET
The correct image calibration under the
influence of daylight is not intended. The
infrared portion which is invisible to the
human eye, is often no longer filtered in
endoscopic cameras for light sensitivity
since an IR filter is already integrated in
the cold-light sources. This is no reason
for concern.
The focal range may need calibrat
-
ion for the current application.
Use the RF slide bar on your cont
-
rol unit to focus the image.
Additionally, perform a manual white ba
-
lance calibration. Perform a white balan
-
ce calibration before the initial recording
and after every application change.

The highest permissible operating tem
-
perature of the probe must never be ex
-
ceeded. A sign for too high temperature
is the appearance of white pixels (white
image noise); the device must immediate
-
ly be switched-off and the probe must be
removed from the application urgently.
Temperatures beyond 84° C destroy the
camera head and the light fibers irrever
-
sibly. Fresh weld seams in pipelines have
high local temperatures, which quickly
lead to the destruction of the instrument!
The application must be free of acids, al
-
kali, oils and solvents. All non ph-neutral
liquid media may destroy different parts
of the probe.
