6.2 Disassembly
6.2.1
Removing the inserts
• DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FROM
THE CRIMPER.
Omitting to deactivate the machine and disconnect the crimper
battery before adjusting or changing accessories may cause severe
body injury.
• OPEN THE MAIN JAWS MANUALLY
Extracting the inserts is easier to perform when the main jaws are in
the open position. Never open the main jaws when activating the
machine.
• EXTRACT THE INSERTS
Lift the red latches on the outer part of the main jaws and slide the
inserts to one of the sides of the main jaws.
• IF REQUIRED, REMOVE THE MAIN
JAWS
Turn the locking button by a half turn. A spring under the locking
button helps extracting the axis.
6.2.2
Removing the mini-jaws
• DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FROM
THE CRIMPER.
Omitting to disconnect the battery before adjusting or changing
accessories may cause severe body injury.
• RELEASE THE LOCKING SYSTEM
Turn the locking button by a half turn. A spring under the locking
button helps extracting the axis.
• EXTRACT THE MINI-JAW
An injury may occur as the mini-jaw can be extracted by falling under
its own weight. Extract the mini-jaw from the front of the machine.
6.3 Preparing the tube and coupling
6.3.1
Tube preparation
WARNING:
non-respect of any instructions below may cause bad crimping and increase the risks of water, fire or
explosion damage.
It is important to refer to the safety and use instructions recommended by tube and coupling manufacturers. Virax
waives any liability if these instructions are not applied.
• CUT THE TUBE.
Cut the tube perpendicular to its axis. Ensure the cut is clean,
particularly when using couplings with elastomeric gaskets.
• DEBUR THE TUBE
Debur the tube to eliminate any burrs and/or cutting edges.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
• The ends of the tube must be deburred to help inserting the coupling.
• The tube ends must be recalibrated at their nominal diameter over a length exceeding the insertion depth in the
coupling. The tube must be calibrated with a tool designed specifically to this effect. The tube must be cut if
calibrated improperly.
• To work on existing networks, eliminate all traces of paint over a length exceeding the insertion depth in the
coupling.
6.3.2
Preparing the coupling
• CHOOSE THE COUPLING ADAPTED
TO THE TUBE TO INSTALL.
Check the coupling is adapted to the tube's diameter, as well as that
the tube's material and thickness are compatible with the coupling
(refer to the coupling manufacturer for information on calibration).
• CHOOSE THE MINI-JAWS OR
INSERTS ADAPTED TO THE COUPLING.
Use the profile and diameter recommended in the instructions
supplied with the couplings.
6.3.3
Placing the fitting
• PLACE THE COUPLING.
Slide the coupling onto the tube with a twisting movement. Check that
the coupling is well adapted to the tube selected.
