With a mulching kit, the ride-on mower can
be converted into a mulching mower.
For this purpose, the discharge opening of
the mowing deck is closed using a mulch
insert. The mowing blades installed as
standard remain on the machine.
Observe the instruction manual
of the ride-on mower,
particularly the "For your safety"
and "Maintenance" sections.
Remove the ignition key before
performing any work on the
ride-on mower.
Always wear thick gloves when
performing assembly and
maintenance work.
Before each use, perform a
visual check to ensure that the mulch
insert, mowing blade and blade fastening
are in good condition. - Never remove the
discharge flap for mulching.
Only work with an undamaged and
properly installed mulch insert.
3.1 Installing the mulch insert
Preparing the ride-on mower for
mulching:
●
Open the discharge flap (1) and hold it
open.
●
Fit mulch insert (A) onto the discharge
opening and guide onto pin (2). The
tabs (3) on the front of the mulch insert
must be positioned as shown.
●
Fix the mulch insert using retaining
pin (B) on pin (2).
●
Check for secure seating of the mulch
insert and close the discharge flap.
The ride-on mower is ready for
mulching.
3.2 Removing the mulch insert
Using the ride-on mower as a side
discharge mower:
●
Open the discharge flap (1) and hold it
open.
●
Pull retaining pin (B) out of pin (2); it
remains on the mulch insert. Remove
mulch insert (A).
●
Close the discharge flap.
The ride-on mower can again be used
as a side discharge mower.
4.1 General information
During mulching, the cut grass is chopped
up several times through a special air flow
guidance system in the mower blade area
and then blown back into the turf. The
finely shredded clippings remain on the
lawn.
The decomposing clippings return organic
nutrients to the soil, serving as a natural
fertiliser. Weed growth is slowed down and
significant amounts of fertilizer are saved.
The use of a mulching kit also prevents
blockages at the discharge opening as,
during mulching, the grass is no longer
ejected at the side of the mowing deck.
4.2 How should mulching be
performed?
●
Frequency:
At least twice a week in the spring (main
period of growth) and at least once a
week in the summer and autumn.
●
Cutting height:
Remove approximately one third of the
grass height, only use cutting heights
4
to 7
.
●
Mulch the lawn when dry.
