Hearing loss from loud noise (from tractors, chain saws, radios, and
other sources close to the ear) is cumulative over a lifetime without
hope of natural recovery.
5.8.1
Hook the mower to the tractor
Ensure the Flail mower rests on solid level ground and the support legs are extended before
hooking to the tractor.
◼
Move the tractor in position and fit the mower to the 3-point hitch.
◼
Install the left lower linkage arm, then install the right lower linkage arm (because the leveling
lift rod has an adjustable screw.) finally, insert the securing pins.
◼
Install the upper linkage arm, and insert the securing pin.
◼
Slide in the support legs.
◼
Connect the PTO shaft to the tractor.
◼
Connect the hydraulic hoses.
◼
On a flat surface, lower the implement to the ground. If the mower is not level side to side,
adjust the vertical linkage arms on the three-point linkage till the implement aligns level on the
floor.
◼
Adjust the top link to reduce the angle at the PTO shaft joints to the minimum at working
depth. The angle of the PTO universal joints should not exceed 15° when it is working and 30°
when it is lifted for transport.
◼
Adjust the working depth by adjusting both skids to the required height.
5.8.2
PTO shaft and hydraulic connections
◼
Ensure the junction nipples of the PTO shaft are supplied with grease.
◼
Mount the PTO shaft. Ensure that the size of the PTO shaft is correct, as described in this
Chapter. After mounting, keep the mower as close to the tractor as possible; the shaft must not
get stuck.
◼
Always keep the PTO shaft as straight as possible. Your PTO shaft will be more efficient and
have a longer life if you use it straightforwardly. An angle smaller than 15 degrees is
acceptable.
◼
Connect the hydraulic hoses to the tractor.
◼
Note:
If the mower is raised so that the PTO shaft is at an angle sharper than 35 degrees, then
do not start the PTO.
5.8.3
Mower Inspection
◼
Inspect the whole FMHDH visually and check all vital components and their connections for
damage, kinking, wear or dirt. Review the machine checklist.
◼
Ensure the gearbox is filled with oil and that all lubrication points are greased.
◼
Check that the working area is relatively smooth and free of obstacles.
◼
Always maintain a full view of the working area during operation.
◼
Keep animals far away from the machine.
