6.2 Maintenance activities
6.2.1 Daily visual inspection by the driver
WARNING!
Risk of injury from loss of functionality!
Malfunctions or damage to the assistance system lead to a loss of func-
tionality or failure of the assistance system. Dangerous situations and
serious injuries could result.
– In the event of damage, malfunctions or uncertainty, take the
VETTER Smart
Fork
®
out of operation immediately. Contact customer
service Ä “Customer service” on page 3 or a service specialist and
inform them of the issue.
Personnel: n Driver of industrial trucks
Protective equipment:

Protective work clothing
n Industrial helmet
n Safety shoes
Check the following points:
n All VETTER Smart Fork
®
applications must be checked for functionality.
n Function check for fork arm locking:
–
The VETTER Smart Fork
®
must be engaged in the locking groove (Fig. 29/2).
– The VETTER Smart Fork ® lever must be fully engaged.
n The VETTER Smart Fork
®
must be free from dirt and ice.
n
The VETTER Smart Fork ® hooks must not be damaged.
n The VETTER Smart Fork ® must have any deformations, cracks, damage or sharp
edges.
n Function check for strain relief:
–
The connection cable must have enough play in every position and may not be
under tension or be trapped or kinked.
n Function check for the connection cable:
–
All plug connections must be securely plugged in.
– Cables may not have any damage, cracks or kinks.
n Check the camera optics:
–
The camera protective screen must not be covered, dirty or damaged.
– The VETTER Smart Fork ® Camera application must be securely fitted in the fork
arm.
– Any cables in the VETTER Smart Fork ® must be firmly adhered in place. Top up
any worn adhesion with a suitable adhesive (for example, Sikaflex 252) and allow
it to dry.
n The Laser, Level, Distance, Flash and Secure applications must be clean and undam-
aged.
n Safety markings must be complete and legible.
