11.2 Location of a open wire (cut fault)

Task: Cable has a open (cut fault) which location needs to be traced.

CTT33:

Connect one transmitter output to the open wire. Connect second output parallel to all remaining

wires and possible shielding and ground them all, preferably using a ground pick to soil.

CL43:

Use LA43 probe. Monitor signal strength along the cable surface. At the fault spot signal quickly

weakens.
