7.6 Upstream Signal Generator with FEC Correction (USG+FEC)
Overview:
The Upstream Signal Generator (USG) function generates a signal for upstream or return path testing.
The USG + FEC option supports CW, CW 2-tone QPSK, QAM-16 Annex A, QAM-64 Annex B, QAM-128 Annex A and QAM-256
Annex B signal generation. QAM-16 STD Annex A, QAM-64 STD Annex A and QAM-128 STD Annex A are with ITU standard
interleave (i & j) settings.
The frequency is adjustable in the range of 5MHz to 65MHz.
The level is adjustable over a dynamic range of 60dBuV to 120dBuV or 0dBmV to 60dBmV. When a digital modulation is selected,
a symbol rate of 1.28Mbps, 2.56Mbps and 5.12Mbps with bandwidth of 1.6MHz, 3.2MHz and 6.4MHz respectively can be selected.
The test set's USG+FEC option can continuously generate the selected signal after it is activated by selecting the LEAVE ON option
upon exiting the USG+FEC menu. This allows a user to perform other measurements while the USG+FEC stays on.
