**TARGET HEART RATE
One method for calculating your target heart rate is to use this simple formula below:
220 - Your Age = Your Maximum Heart Rate (220 minus
But, it is not recommended to work out at your Maximum Heart Rate.
It would be better
to work out at your Target Heart Rate. The American Heart Association recommends a way to
find your Target Heart Rate. They advise it should be around 60% to 75% of your maximum
heart rate. They also recommend if you are just starting an exercise program to have your
Target Heart Rate near or below the lowest limit they advise.
Lower Limit:
220 - Your Age = Maximum Heart Rate x .6 = Target Heart Rate
(220 minus Your Age =Maximum Heart Rate times .6 equals Target Heart Rate)
Upper Limit:
220-Your Age = Maximum Heart Rate x .75 = Target Heart Rate
(220 minus Your Age = Maximum Heart Rate times .75 equals Target Heart Rate)
Also, another good way to judge your exercise level is if you winded or can’t speak without
gasping for air while exercising. You are probably exercising too hard and need to slow down.
Always, consult a physician before beginning any exercise routine.
Note
1. If connection cables are installed incorrectly the computer will
display “E1” and generate a beeping sound. Please check all
connection cables. Once checked and connected correctly Reset
the power and press START/PAUSE (hold down to reset.)
2. If the computer shows an E2 please turn off the power and turn it
on again.
3. If the computer cannot pick up a signal from the hand-pulse
sensors an E3 error message will be displayed.
